As a vital member of the surgical team at Cayuga Medical Center, Surgical Technologists and Licensed Practical Nurses play a crucial role in delivering compassionate and comprehensive care. They practice within their full scope of expertise and actively participate in the development and evaluation of healthcare programs aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Uphold care standards for surgical patients, in accordance with AORN guidelines.
  • Prepare surgical environments by ensuring rooms are stocked and equipment is sanitized.
  • Anticipate the needs of surgeons and anesthesia providers by preparing necessary supplies and instruments.
  • Exhibit proficiency in the handling of surgical supplies and equipment, adapting to patient needs during procedures.
  • Assist in patient positioning and preparation, adhering to surgical protocols.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring a safe environment for patients.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control practices and stay informed on policy updates.
Qualifications:
  • Certification: NBSTSA or NCCT certification, or a valid LPN license.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, eligible for certification.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Flexible scheduling options including day shifts with various hour configurations. On-call responsibilities are part of the role.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing, hand use, and mobility are required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects of varying weights.
  • Visual acuity for detailed tasks is essential.
Work Environment:
  • Onsite position.
Compensation:
  • Hourly pay range: $30.00 to $39.28.
