As a vital member of the surgical team at Cayuga Medical Center, Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and compassionate care. CSTs are empowered to operate within their full scope of practice, actively participating in the development and evaluation of programs aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with AORN standards and hospital protocols to ensure the highest quality of surgical care.
  • Prepare surgical environments by organizing supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to infection control practices.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by preparing necessary instruments and materials for procedures.
  • Assist in positioning and preparing patients, responding to their needs throughout surgical interventions.
  • Identify and address potential safety risks by ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through educational opportunities and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Efficiently manage tasks to meet the demands of patient care, demonstrating flexibility as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: NBSTSA or NCCT certification, or a valid LPN license.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, eligible for certification.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires frequent use of hands and fingers, including keyboarding, and the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Involves physical activities such as bending, kneeling, and reaching to manage medical supplies and equipment.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting, with the ability to operate job-related equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This position is performed onsite.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Rate: $30.00 to $39.28
