KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers urgent care and occupational health services for injury and illness, including follow-up assessments.
  • Conducts comprehensive medical evaluations, including pre-employment, annual, and return-to-duty assessments, while reviewing findings to guide candidate placements.
  • Serves as a medical review officer for drug testing, if certified.
  • Engages with employers to address health and safety requirements, performing workplace evaluations and assessments.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, including the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act and OSHA regulations, demonstrating proficiency in these areas through case management reviews.
  • Acts as a consultant and resource for client organizations and OccuMed Resources staff regarding Occupational Medicine and OSHA compliance.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation, and refinement of policies and procedures that influence medical practice and the quality of occupational health services.
  • Collaborates with physicians and staff across various occupational health and urgent care facilities.
  • Oversees the work of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
  • Leads initiatives aimed at improving medical quality and outcomes.
  • Serves as a liaison with the broader medical community.
  • Exhibits competency in all assigned responsibilities.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for up to three (3) hours at a time, and stand for up to eight (8) hours. Capable of walking for up to six (6) hours per day. Frequent use of hands for therapeutic procedures, with the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds consistently, and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Rarely, with assistance, may lift up to 100 pounds and push/pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds. Must be able to perceive attributes of objects through touch, and possess normal vision and hearing capabilities.

EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school. Board eligibility is required, with certification to be obtained within one year of hire, or must be board certified in occupational medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or internal medicine.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of one to two years of experience is preferred, particularly in urgent care and occupational health settings. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
