Position Summary: The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for constructing and testing both fabricated and purchased components for the mechanical and electrical assembly of Merrick Equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist or work under the supervision of an Assembler II in the assembly of final products or subassemblies.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and equipment for product assembly.
  • Complete assemblies adhering to specified tolerances and timelines.
  • Utilize hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
  • Employ electrical/electronic devices such as multimeters and soldering irons.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly drawings.
  • Install components such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors, and semiconductor circuits onto various units.
  • Route and connect wires and connectors to form circuitry and link assemblies to power sources.
  • Inspect parts for defects and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conduct tests to identify defects, assess performance, and verify operational specifications.
  • Accurately complete and scan work orders for each assignment.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful workplace environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain cleanliness in the work area.

Safety & Environmental Responsibilities: Responsible for addressing any concerns within their scope of work and must report any issues to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret operational documents and blueprints.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations involving proportions, percentages, and basic geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a loud environment.

Work Environment: The role involves working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to various environmental conditions. Hearing protection is recommended due to high noise levels.
