Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Engineer to join our Public Works Department's Engineering Division team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing municipal engineering projects, developing project schedules, and preparing professional engineering contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage specific municipal engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, and securing funding.
  • Develop, monitor, and update project schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare and administer professional engineering contracts, including reviewing and recommending approval of engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate projects with other City departments, agencies, and utilities as required.
  • Review plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation capital improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Three years of professional engineering field and office experience.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • Desirable: valid certificate of registration issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers, experience or training in engineering computer applications, and proficiency in Microsoft programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Managed at least 3 major public works projects and related consultant contracts within the last 3 years.
  • Valid certificate of registration issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers.
  • Experience or training in engineering computer applications.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft programs.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding public relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated.
