Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Oversees and manages components of the organization's safety management systems.
  • Provides guidance on state and federal safety regulations and programs.
  • Evaluates safety incidents and near misses, communicating necessary improvements.

Process Safety Initiatives

  • Promotes advancements in Process Safety and Loss Prevention.
  • Assists in implementing new safety technologies and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Responds to operational incidents, offering risk-based solutions for high-risk scenarios.
  • Supports significant capital projects by providing design consultation and quality assurance related to process safety.
  • Creates and maintains technical standards and guidelines.
  • Delivers training on risk assessment and safe operational practices for engineering and operational staff.
  • Facilitates hazard and operability assessments.
  • Provides technical leadership through participation in industry networks and working groups.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the refining or petrochemical sector.
  • Familiarity with state and federal safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of design and troubleshooting in petrochemical/refining operations.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety features associated with refinery equipment.
  • Familiarity with process safety standards and engineering practices.
  • Experience with risk assessment techniques.
  • Ability to conduct hazard assessments and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of safety review processes for new projects.
  • Experience with hazardous area classifications and blast protection assessments.
  • Capability to perform dispersion modeling and flame radiation assessments.
  • Awareness of process hazards and safe working practices.
