Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Biomedical Engineering Supervisor or the guidance of the Lead Biomedical Technician, the Biomedical Systems Technician II plays a crucial role in the upkeep, repair, enhancement, and evaluation of the Medical Center's clinical electronic systems and associated technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts preventive maintenance, electrical safety assessments, equipment repairs, and calibration on the Medical Center's biomedical devices and systems, both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Collaborates with Medical Center personnel through training sessions to ensure all staff are proficient in the proper operation of the equipment.
  • Maintains calibration of testing equipment and utilizes diagnostic skills for basic repairs on test bench equipment.
  • Assists in managing inventories and maintaining equipment records for all electrical devices within the Medical Center.
  • Utilizes materials efficiently, maintains records, and monitors work conditions to ensure accurate inventory levels of parts, materials, and tools.
  • Performs regular inspections to guarantee that all equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Responds promptly to service requests and initiates necessary repairs to systems and components.
  • Exhibits knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conducts periodic preventive maintenance on systems and components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintains comprehensive records and schematics of the entire system and its repairs.
  • Coordinates with external vendors for repairs when required, ensuring compliance with Medical Center standards.
  • Interprets regulatory standards and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and national codes and regulations.
  • Inspects, tests, repairs, and replaces electrical and electronic circuits, devices, and appliances.
  • Reads and interprets technical documents, including blueprints, sectional drawings, and equipment bulletins.
  • Effectively prioritizes, organizes, and manages multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with hospital team members.
  • Immediately informs the Assistant Director of Engineering of any irregularities.
  • Employs independent judgment in addressing emergency situations.
Department-Specific Duties
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Takes on new incoming inspection projects as directed by the Supervisor.

Additional Information: An Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical or clinical equipment.
