Role Summary

As a Cosmetic Sales Specialist, also referred to as a Beauty Product Consultant, your primary objective is to cater to the beauty requirements of our clientele to boost sales. You will act as both a product expert and a beauty aficionado, dedicated to ensuring our customers feel beautiful and self-assured. Your focus will be on developing a loyal customer base and fostering robust client relationships to achieve sales targets. You will embrace innovative selling techniques and will be adept at engaging with customers through virtual channels and phone communications. Your responsibilities will include providing personalized consultations, which may involve applying makeup and beauty products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers warmly and assist them with their needs
  • Utilize your product knowledge to provide expert advice tailored to each customer's preferences
  • Establish rapport with customers by introducing them to beauty products and uncovering their unique needs
  • Demonstrate and educate customers on the application of beauty products
  • Maintain organized displays, inventory storage, and restocking processes
  • Leverage our clientele program to connect with customers, achieve sales objectives, and inform them about promotions and new product launches
  • Participate in pre-selling and sales-enhancing events to boost sales and meet personal targets
  • Stay updated with training through Macy's educational resources, including vendor training and virtual sessions as required
  • Manage new arrivals, process damages, and select merchandise for vendor returns
  • Utilize point-of-sale technology and applications to facilitate sales and fulfill customer orders
  • Adhere to hygiene standards and asset protection protocols

Essential Skills

  • Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of beauty products and the ability to provide expert guidance based on customer preferences.
  • Communication: Comfortable engaging with customers through various channels, including virtual, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Sales Acumen: Ability to build customer relationships, meet sales goals, and engage in promotional events.
  • Technological Proficiency: Capable of using point-of-sale technology and applications to assist in sales and order fulfillment.
  • Commitment to Learning: Self-motivated to stay informed about beauty product knowledge and trends through Macy's educational resources.
  • Makeup Application Skills: Ability to demonstrate and teach the use of beauty products through application on customers.
  • Expertise: Proficient in vendor product lines and beauty trends, serving as a knowledgeable resource.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across various levels and departments.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in partnership with the entire Beauty team to drive sales and enhance customer experiences.

  • Previous experience in cosmetic or fragrance sales is advantageous

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (at least two consecutive hours)
  • Frequent use of computers and handheld devices
  • Physical tasks may include reaching, crouching, kneeling, and color vision
  • This role involves lifting, moving, standing, reaching, and climbing ladders
  • Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
