About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Manager to join our team at Wood plc. As a key member of our US Onshore sub-Business Group in the Oil, Gas & Power business unit, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, profitability, and commercial excellence in our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Performance Management: Maximize commercial performance while managing business/project risk (pre and post-contract).
  • Commercialization of Service Offerings: Commercialize sub-Business Group service offerings to support business growth and strategy.
  • Team Development: Develop teams with in-depth commercial and cross-functional expertise to support the assigned business.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with relevant commercial/contracting policies and embed effective commercial governance and assurance across the sub-Business Group/Project/Portfolio of Projects.
  • Dispute Resolution and Cash Collection: Resolve disputes/claims and cash collection issues.
  • Tender Governance: Manage the tender governance process for the sub-Business Group.
  • Commercial Strategy Implementation: Implement the commercial strategy for the Business Unit within the assigned project/sub-business group and ensure alignment of objectives with the business unit strategy.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and demonstrate safety leadership behaviors.
  • Ethics and Integrity: Act ethically and with the utmost integrity.
  • Financial Management Framework: Champion and promote the application of the Financial Management Framework guidelines.
  • Pre-Award Activities: Lead and manage pre-award activities, compliance with Wood's commercial policies, risk management, contractual negotiation strategies, and contract administration.
  • Project Margin Analysis: Develop and implement project margin analysis and project commercial handover plans.
  • Project Cashflow Forecasts: Manage project cashflow forecasts.
  • Contract Close-Out: Oversee the preparation and delivery of contract close-out requirements.
  • Financial Management Framework Governance: Govern and implement the Financial Management Framework within the assigned project/sub-BG.
  • Commercial Process Alignment: Align project/sub-BG specific commercial requirements with Wood's commercial processes and procedures.
  • Mentorship: Mentor commercial and project personnel in relation to commercial principles.
  • Contract Reviews: Coordinate contract reviews and the development of qualifications/redlines.
  • Claims Management: Pursue claims on Wood's behalf and/or defend claims against Wood as required.
Level of Influence and Decision-Making Authority
  • Governance and Assurance: Accountable for governance and assurance of commercial policies and processes within Sub-BG/Project Team and commercial delivery on tenders/projects.
  • Delegation of Authority: Custodian of Delegation of Authority (DOA) within the assigned project/sub-BG.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • 8-12 years of experience in a similar role with 4+ years of leadership/management experience.
  • Proven experience in contract administration, including change management.
  • Awareness of all relevant corporate and project procedures.
  • Experience in contract negotiations.
  • Experience in claims & dispute resolution (pre and post-litigation experience preferred).
