Role Overview

At the heart of our Electric Adventure Vehicles lies reliability. As a Senior Supplier Reliability Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring that Rivian's products are designed with reliability as a primary focus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and convey reliability standards, objectives, and testing protocols for thermal components, subsystems, and assemblies.
  • Utilize fleet data, performance assessments, and industry benchmarks to determine lifetime testing criteria.
  • Lead DFMEA workshops for designated components with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Guide supplier selection processes to enhance reliability and provide comprehensive instructions on reliability expectations and validation to suppliers.
  • Conduct root cause analyses using physics of failure techniques for reliability test failures.
  • Implement ongoing reliability assessments and burn-in testing methodologies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a reliability engineering or design engineering capacity.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive sector.
  • Expertise in methods for integrating and maintaining reliability in various components, including:
    • HVAC & Thermal components (Heat Pump, Valves, Accumulator, HVAC Module, Hoses, etc.).
  • Experience in deploying reliability testing protocols to suppliers and facilitating DFMEAs both internally and externally.
Compensation Information

Salary Range for Irvine-Based Applicants: $171,000 - $213,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law).
Salary Range for Palo Alto-Based Applicants: $186,000 - $232,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Overview: Rivian offers comprehensive medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance plans for full-time employees, their spouses or domestic partners, and children up to age 26. Coverage begins on the first day of employment, with Rivian covering the majority of the premiums.
