Position Overview:
Are you driven by the desire to foster connections and guide a vibrant organization within a bustling business community? The West Central Association Chamber of Commerce (WCA) is seeking an individual with a passion for leadership and community engagement.
The WCA, established in 1918, is a distinguished chamber with a progressive outlook. We advocate for the success of our members, which include a diverse array of businesses, institutions, and organizations throughout some of Chicago's most lively neighborhoods. From the energetic restaurant scene in the West Loop to the innovative atmosphere of Fulton Market, and encompassing established corporations and emerging startups, the WCA serves as a vital catalyst for economic development and opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visionary Leadership: Formulate and implement strategic initiatives, providing inspiring leadership while representing the WCA to stakeholders, media, and the broader community.
- Membership and Revenue Expansion: Enhance revenue through diverse channels such as donations, events, memberships, and grants, while fostering a robust member base.
- Team Development: Cultivate and lead a high-performing team, inspiring collaboration and engagement among staff, the Board, and the community.
- Program and Event Coordination: Design, execute, and assess programs and events that align with the WCA's mission, empowering members to succeed.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the organization’s financial health, operational activities, staff oversight, and regulatory compliance.
- Advocacy and Public Engagement: Represent the business community on various issues at local, state, and federal levels, influencing public policy that impacts the business environment.
- Collaborative Governance: Support the Board of Directors in fulfilling its governance responsibilities and ensure effective communication between management and the Board.
- Commitment to Diversity: Promote and uphold principles of equal opportunity throughout the WCA's operations.
Qualifications:
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a chamber or similar organization, or 10 years in a for-profit sector with relevant board experience.
- Local Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Chicago's business landscape and economic development challenges.
- Results-Driven: Proven success in achieving strategic objectives and financial targets.
- Business Development Skills: Experience in securing sponsorships and managing multiple revenue streams.
- Influential Communication: Strong advocacy and communication skills to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams.
- Community Advocacy: Ability to build a strong public image for the WCA.
- Passion for Community: A genuine commitment to the West Central area.
- Integrity: Uphold ethical standards in all operations.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
