STRUCTURAL STEEL COST ANALYST JOB DESCRIPTION:

A leading structural steel manufacturer in the Midwest is seeking a Cost Analyst with expertise, ambition, and a proactive mindset to become an integral part of their team. As a Cost Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to assess and estimate the costs associated with fabricated structural steel for various projects. The value of these projects typically ranges from $1M to $30M. This position offers a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package.

COST ANALYST PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct detailed quantitative takeoffs.
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements.
  • Exhibit leadership skills to coordinate a team in developing accurate estimates.
  • Calculate labor and equipment expenses.
  • Prepare precise quantity takeoffs and pricing for materials.
  • Comprehend project logistics and timelines in accordance with industry standards.
  • Evaluate all bid documents and identify potential project risks.
  • Collaborate with the project team to review quotes and estimates.
  • Generate estimates at various stages of project development (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents, etc.).
  • Facilitate pre-construction activities and meetings with stakeholders.
  • Act as the liaison between the owner and architect.

COST ANALYST QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in cost estimation for steel projects.
  • Experience in detailing is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in utilizing estimating software and advanced computer skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction costs and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with structural steel and miscellaneous metal concepts.
