The position requires a thorough examination of blueprints and client specifications, particularly in the plumbing, process piping, and HVAC sectors.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: To excel in this role, the following duties must be effectively executed. These responsibilities are representative but not exhaustive of what is required to thrive in this position.   • Adhere to the required schedule and hours to meet project deadlines and support the estimation team.
  • Utilize estimation software to determine labor and material costs for piping, ductwork, insulation, and plumbing systems.
  • Analyze and interpret plans and specifications accurately.
  • Identify project bidding requirements, scope of work, critical timelines, non-standard conditions, cost implications, material and equipment specifications, safety and compliance standards, risk management, and unique requirements.
  • Work on details related to piping, ductwork, and plumbing, including system sizing, calculations, capacities, equipment selections, best practices, design drawings, code compliance, and relevant design data.
  • Become proficient in internal software for project estimates.
  • Prepare proposal and bid submission documents for plan and spec projects and assist with design/build documentation.
  • Facilitate the transfer of project information and estimates to Project Managers.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings.
  • Collaborate with contractors on successful bids to gather necessary information.
  • Support Project Managers with change orders and budget modifications.
  • Stay informed about software updates and industry standards.
  • Engage in company training programs and attend external conferences or seminars as necessary.
  • Undertake special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related tasks as directed by the executive team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Possess a college degree and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience in estimating within mechanical contracting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in computer usage, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet resources.
  • Experience with Estimation Software is preferred.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Be an effective team player and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be open to receiving and applying constructive feedback.
  • Show attention to detail and meticulous follow-through; capable of handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with a commitment to excellence in job performance.
  • Possess the ability to work well with both internal and external customers.
