Job Title: Grant Specialist

The LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking a skilled Grant Specialist to join our Development Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in securing funding for our organization's programs and services.

Job Summary:

The Grant Specialist will be responsible for researching and identifying new grant opportunities, writing and submitting grant proposals, and managing grant reports. This is a remote position that requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
  • Research and identify new grant opportunities that align with the LightHouse's mission and goals
  • Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding for our programs and services
  • Manage grant reports and ensure timely submission
  • Collaborate with the Grants and Contract Manager to develop and implement grant strategies
  • Provide support for Communications related to grants and institutional giving
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, History, or a related field
  • 3-5+ years' experience in grant writing or a related field
  • Proven professional writing experience, ideally 1+ years of grants or corporate requests
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional and friendly demeanor
  • Driven, dependable, strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Familiarity with or interest in the nonprofit community and the LightHouse's mission
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or proven CRM learning capacity and willingness to develop essential skills immediately
