Job Title: Grant Specialist

At the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, we are seeking a highly skilled Grant Specialist to join our Development Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in securing funding to support our mission of promoting the independence, equality, and self-reliance of people who are blind or visually impaired.

Job Summary:

The Grant Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive grant writing strategy to secure funding from institutional donors. This will involve researching and identifying new funding opportunities, writing and submitting grant proposals, and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a grant writing strategy to secure funding from institutional donors
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities, including government agencies, foundations, and corporate donors
  • Write and submit grant proposals, including concept papers, full proposals, and reports
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders
  • Collaborate with the Grants and Contract Manager to ensure grant reporting and compliance
  • Provide support to the Development Department in the development of fundraising strategies and events
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, History, or a related field
  • 3-5+ years' experience in grant writing, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to write compelling grant proposals and reports
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and pursue new funding opportunities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills
