This role is a full-time position within the NASA White Sands Test Facility Propulsion Department.

The successful candidate will collaborate with both mechanical and electrical management teams, engineers, project leads, and technician crews across various test areas.

The Electrical Engineering Branch Manager plays a crucial role in the Propulsion management team, reporting directly to the Department Manager.

This leadership position involves overseeing the daily operations of a team of approximately 30 professionals, including engineers, technicians, and IT/programmers.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in electrical engineering, complemented by experience in project management, team leadership, and personnel development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of branch operations, including project management and technical performance.
  • Developing and executing strategic plans for personnel growth within the branch.
  • Collaborating closely with NASA clients to identify and allocate project resources.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and support staff, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

The Branch Manager will be recognized as a technical expert, accountable for design, development, testing, implementation, and analysis. They will recommend enhancements to improve product quality and operational procedures.

Typically, this position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, with a related master's degree preferred, along with 10-15 years of relevant experience.

The candidate should demonstrate:

  • Leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in electrical systems design, instrumentation, data acquisition, and controls.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and familiarity with industrial safety best practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively conveying operations and safety practices. The candidate must be able to address large groups as necessary.

Additional requirements include U.S. citizenship, possession of a valid state driver's license, and the ability to pass a federal background investigation, employment physical, and drug testing.
