Overview: The DARKWING program is in search of a dedicated Satellite Systems Engineer to enhance our operations. This role is critical in supporting mission operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tasks necessary for the maintenance and enhancement of mission operations within the designated work center.
- Engage in a production and validation process for IT systems and products, necessitating formal documentation such as standard operating procedures.
- Utilize software tools to create advanced products for client utilization.
- Achieve and uphold certification as a System Operator.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of procedures, test plans, integration documentation, and problem reports, assessing their implications on missions.
- Collaborate with management regarding operational challenges.
Essential Skills:
- Familiarity with common computer architectures and operating systems.
- Proficient troubleshooting techniques based on cause and effect.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary, multi-contractor team.
- Capability to adapt and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Training Requirements:
- Certification is mandatory for System Operator performance. COMSEC certification is also required.
Basic Qualifications:
- A degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Technology, Systems Science, Communications/Networks, or Aerospace, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with a current adjudicated polygraph.
- Must be able to work 12-hour rotational shifts and thrive in a dynamic testing and operational environment.
- Willingness to obtain site-specific certifications: System Operator and COMSEC certifications.
Desired Skills:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a multi-contractor environment.
- Competence in planning, prioritizing, scheduling, managing, and reporting on assigned tasks.
- Strong operations-oriented technical background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 1 week/year).
- Knowledge of networking, LINUX, MS Windows, and computer system architectures.
- Experience in telecommunication/satellite communications, including RF/digital/analog circuits.
- Background in satellite operations, including troubleshooting operational issues and developing operational procedures.
Security Clearance Statement: This position necessitates a government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. Citizens for consideration.
Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Poly
