Position Overview

The Program Coordinator for Intercultural Initiatives plays a vital role within the Student Affairs team at Merrimack College, dedicated to fostering an inclusive and respectful campus environment. Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Dean of Students, this position is essential in implementing training programs and overseeing the operations of the Unity House, while also contributing to the development of a comprehensive programming calendar.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision: Oversee Unity House coordinators and student staff, providing essential guidance and support for effective daily operations and programming.
  • Diversity Training: Assist in the facilitation of campus-wide training focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Programming Development: Create and manage a diverse programming calendar that aligns with the needs of the Merrimack College community, including support for various events throughout the year.
  • Event Coordination: Design and execute campus-wide events aimed at enhancing intercultural awareness among students.
  • Facility Management: Act as the primary contact for Unity House, overseeing space reservations and maintenance.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside campus partners to develop initiatives that support student retention.
  • Liaison Role: Represent Intercultural Initiatives and Unity House, collaborating with various campus offices to enhance student experiences.
  • Assessment: Conduct ongoing evaluations of all Intercultural Initiatives and Unity House programs to ensure effectiveness and relevance.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the Student Affairs division.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in higher education settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into student engagement.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, both in-person and written.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with higher education databases and web editing.
