Job Overview

A. POSITION SUMMARY

The Over-The-Road Driver is tasked with operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a minimum capacity of 26,000 GVW to transport, deliver, and collect goods. A valid commercial driver's license and at least three years of accident-free over-the-road driving experience are required.

B. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and procedures.

2. Complete mandatory safety training sessions.

3. Keep a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

4. Provide assistance to the Plant Manager and Supervisor as necessary.

5. Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the plant.

6. Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment as required.

7. Drive trucks with capacities exceeding 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations.

8. Exhibit the ability to observe, receive, and gather information from various sources.

9. Handle and move objects as needed.

10. Engage in general physical activities.

11. Interact professionally with other employees and the public.

12. Communicate effectively with supervisors and peers.

13. Inspect and maintain equipment or materials, such as fuel and oil.

14. Identify objects, actions, and events accurately.

15. Process information by compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying data.

16. Follow traffic laws and established transportation procedures.

17. Verify inventory loads against shipping documents.

18. Submit necessary paperwork for pickups and deliveries.

19. Report any delays, accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle damage to the company.

20. Maintain records including vehicle logs, working hours, and service status.

21. Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

22. Regular attendance during scheduled work hours is essential for this role.

C. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

D. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Balancing - maintaining equilibrium to prevent falls on narrow or slippery surfaces.

2. Bending and stooping - bending forward at the waist for extended periods.

4. Grasping - applying pressure to objects with hands for extended periods.

E. MOBILITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Pulling hand over hand - exerting force to draw or drag objects.

2. Sitting - sustained periods of sitting for up to 8 hours.

3. Standing - minimal standing required.

4. Walking - minimal walking required.

5. Control precision - adjusting machine or vehicle controls accurately.

6. Manual dexterity - moving hands and arms to manipulate objects.

7. Reaction time - responding quickly to sounds or signals.

8. Response orientation - choosing between movements in response to signals.

9. Rate control - timing movements in anticipation of changes.

10. Sedentary work - exerting minimal force to move objects.

F. VISUAL/HEARING ACUITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Close visual acuity for driving, reading, and operating equipment.

2. Visual acuity for operating motor vehicles and heavy equipment.

3. Spatial orientation - awareness of location in relation to the environment.

4. Ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels, with or without correction.

1. Minimum of three years of truck driving experience.

2. Successful completion of a driving test administered by a neutral third party.

3. Successful completion of a driver physical examination.

4. Excellent driving record with no accidents for a minimum of three years.
