Position Overview
The Culinary Team Leader role is a pivotal position within our kitchen brigade, responsible for guiding and mentoring culinary staff to achieve exceptional food quality and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess extensive culinary expertise and a genuine enthusiasm for delivering outstanding dining experiences.
Core Duties:
* Inspire and motivate culinary team members to perform at their best
* Identify areas for operational enhancement and implement improvements
* Ensure adherence to quality and sanitation protocols
* Achieve financial targets and manage budgets effectively
* Set benchmarks for culinary excellence
* Oversee maintenance of kitchen equipment
* Communicate and manage inventory levels
* Assist in developing menu build diagrams and monitor production quality
* Enforce kitchen management procedures including opening/closing checklists and cleaning schedules
* Create and update menu specifications as required
* Establish standards for chef table presentations
* Develop prep sheets and layout diagrams for efficient food production
* Conduct daily quality checks to maintain flavor standards
* Lead culinary operations during events
* Collaborate with the purchasing team for accurate inventory management
* Monitor and reduce food waste to optimize food costs
* Provide training and coaching on menu items and culinary techniques
* Manage employee breaks to support team well-being
* Conduct pre-shift meetings to set expectations for events
* Address performance issues with team members as necessary
* Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new culinary staff
* Ensure compliance with food ordering, delivery, preparation, and service standards
* Support other locations as needed
* Maintain and update recipe documentation
* Manage the culinary department budget
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Minimum of 2 years in a culinary leadership role
* Culinary degree preferred
* Proficient in computer applications
* Strong understanding of financial principles
* Passionate about hospitality and culinary arts
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
