Job Title: Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in the success of our retail store, overseeing the Front of House and Back of House Managers and ensuring the smooth operation of the store. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for developing a high-performing team that consistently delivers top-line sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance: Meet or exceed goals related to total store sales, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Forecasts and adjusts payroll: Maximize productivity, achieve sales & payroll goals, and complete workload.
  • Builds a team: Embodies the PharmaCann/Verilife brand by delivering exceptional service and driving customer loyalty, increasing return visits.
  • Reviews and interprets financial and operational reporting: Regularly reviews sales reporting and audit results.
  • Identifies underperforming metrics: Develops strategies that leverage company programs, tools, and resources to improve and grow the business.
People:
  • Creates a cohesive work environment: Ensures a respectful, professional, and high-integrity work environment.
  • Recruits and retains top talent: Utilizes the candidate tracking system for open roles within the dispensary.
  • Trains and develops team members: Uses company programs, tools, and resources to train, coach, and develop all team members.
  • Provides performance feedback: Manages employee disciplinary and separation matters.
  • Creates an environment of open communication: Shares enterprise strategy and corporate messaging with associates.
  • Promotes a culture of teamwork: Works alongside the management team, establishes priorities, and provides clear direction.
Operations:
  • Ensures compliance: Adheres to PharmaCann policies, regulations, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Uses scheduling tools: Schedules the right associates in the right places, at the right times, to provide an exceptional customer experience, reduce loss, and execute company directives.
  • Protects company assets: Ensures all store standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety, inventory control, compliance, and loss prevention.
  • Performance management: Coaches team members on poor performance and violation of company and compliance policies in partnership with the General Manager and HRBP.
  • Supports continuous improvement: Implements company programs and influences end-users' buy-in.
Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Minimum 21 years of age: Required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or operations management: Preferred.
  • 3+ years of managerial experience: In a high-volume retail-based industry with a customer-centric approach.
  • 2+ years PharmaCann management experience: Considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve store selling goals: Analyze selling reports, identify business trends, and react quickly to the needs of the business.
  • Comfortable making decisions: Mediate conflict within a team environment.
  • Utilize cross-functional business partners: Support business needs.
  • Ability to address complex issues: Allocate time to execute multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication: Written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify top talent: Train, develop, and retain great people.
  • Proficient in Windows-based software: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Business Acumen: Ethical Conduct, Leadership, Relationship Management, Performance Management, Personal Effectiveness/Credibility, Consulting Skills, Global & Cultural Awareness.
  • Valid driver's license: Ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record background check.

Working conditions: This job operates in a professional retail store environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This position regularly requires a flexible schedule, long hours, weekend work, and holiday availability. Ability to travel to other store locations (if needed) and attend district meetings. May be required to work outdoors and/or during inclement weather. This position may require travel for new store openings within the territory.

Physical requirement: Ability to bend, lift, open and move product and fixtures up to 50 lbs., as needed. Ability to climb step stools and ladders. Ability to stand/walk for long periods at a time. Possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
