We are seeking a highly skilled Unified Communications Network Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). Key Responsibilities:- Design and deploy unified communications solutions to connect decision makers
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches to address unique sponsor challenges
- Collaborate with technical specialists in other fields as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Provide mentorship to support early career staff growth and development
- Document work in technical reports and present outcomes to sponsors and the technical community
- Bachelor's degree in information science and technology, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field
- At least ten years of relevant experience in developing and deploying unified communications solutions
- Demonstrated skill in designing, deploying, and configuring session border controllers, as well as managing voice and video gateways
- Familiarity with industry standards like SIP, XMPP, MGCP, and RTP
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to document design decisions in written formats and present to both expert and non-expert audiences
- Ability to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance
- Master's degree (or higher) in information science and technology, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field
- At least fifteen years of experience in developing and deploying unified communications solutions
- Vendor or industry certifications in the operation and management of varied vendor communications technologies
- Experience in the architecture, design, and implementation of unified communications and online collaboration technologies for commercial and/or government applications
- Proficiency in the performance of media codecs, video and teleconferencing technologies, as well as conference management and collaboration software
- Proficiency in the development of system/system-of-system architectures, protocol and algorithm development, rapid prototyping, and system integration
- Recent knowledge of DoD and/or intelligence community, sponsors, and programs
- Active TS/SCI clearance or an active Top Secret security clearance with a SSBI and recent adjudication for SCI access
