About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Unified Communications Network Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and reliable unified communications systems for our nation's defense and security challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement unified communications solutions using commercial and standards-based technologies.
  • Develop and deploy secure and reliable unified communications systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members and stakeholders.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in unified communications and cybersecurity.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in designing and implementing unified communications solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including SIP, XMPP, MGCP, and RTP.
  • Experience with session border controllers, voice and video gateways, and IP and TDM-based systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in designing and implementing unified communications solutions.
  • Vendor or industry certifications in unified communications technologies.
  • Experience with system architecture, protocol development, and rapid prototyping.
