Job Overview

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of machinery. This position involves conducting repairs, performing inspections, and maintaining accurate documentation while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  1. Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, focusing on loaders, shears, grapples, skid steers, forklifts, and tractor/trailer units.
  2. Execute daily preventive maintenance tasks on machinery as required.
  3. Adhere to the company dress code and ensure compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) standards at all times.
  4. Work autonomously when direct supervision is not available.
  5. Prepare necessary documentation, including Bills of Lading, Work Orders, Purchase Orders, and Tool Orders.
  6. Maintain and troubleshoot conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  7. Perform welding and grinding tasks, including setup and breakdown of machinery.
  8. Support the 5-S program (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain an organized work environment.
Qualifications

Skills and Requirements:

  1. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  2. Effective problem-solving skills.
  3. Proficiency in welding and grinding techniques.
  4. Ability to sort and identify tools and components.
  5. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  6. Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  7. Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Education and Experience

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED; completion of trade school is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or mechanical roles.
  3. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Physical Demands

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and stoop for extended periods.
  2. Capability to climb in and on mobile equipment.
  3. Exposure to physical operations in recycling facilities, including navigating active industrial environments with uneven surfaces in various weather conditions.
