Position Overview:

The Finance Officer at The Fairgrounds Nashville is a non-Civil Service role responsible for executing professional and analytical accounting tasks. This position operates under the guidance of the Finance and Administrative Manager and encompasses various related responsibilities.

The Fairgrounds Nashville is a 117-acre venue that hosts a diverse array of events throughout the year, including the Nashville flea market and the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. Working here provides a unique opportunity to engage with three of Nashville's most iconic attractions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in managing budgetary processes.
  • Reconcile financial accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies as necessary.
  • Support audit processes as assigned.
  • Generate balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Analyze financial trends, costs, revenues, and obligations to forecast future financial performance.
  • Communicate financial information and underlying assumptions to management.
  • Record various accounting transactions.
  • Prepare and process diverse financial forms.
  • Assist in payroll preparation as needed.
  • Manage fixed assets and supplies.
  • Maintain financial and accounting documents and records.
  • Participate in compliance-related financial tasks.
  • Research, analyze, and produce financial and narrative reports and projections.
  • Maintain records of receipts and disbursements.
  • Address inquiries and complaints regarding financial matters.
  • Interpret accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide analytical support to clients, departments, or public members.
  • May undertake various lead or supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of two years of experience in the accounting or fiscal sector. Substitutions may be considered.

Additional Information:
In accordance with Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078, all employees of the Metropolitan Government must be residents of Tennessee or become residents within six months of employment.

Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status is required, along with experience in governmental accounting. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook is essential.
