Job Overview

The Senior Automation Engineer will spearhead initiatives in the Advanced Automation Program, focusing on the development and execution of continuous improvement strategies through cutting-edge process control technologies, particularly model predictive control (MPC). This role is pivotal in leading research, testing, and implementation efforts aimed at discovering innovative automation solutions that boost production efficiency.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of Lamb Weston's APQC program.
  • Supervise the implementation of APQC on new processing lines.
  • Promote APQC utilization throughout the organization while assisting teams in optimizing efficiency.
  • Establish and uphold a structured advanced automation program.
  • Ensure uniformity in APQC automation projects across various facilities.
  • Lead the initiative for APQC best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between control solution vendors and Lamb Weston.
  • Create KPIs to effectively communicate APQC progress and insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Lamb Weston's advanced process control MPC program.
  • Continuously enhance the MPC program to maximize its value.
  • Educate plant staff on MPC programs and report advancements to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Identify processes that are ideal for advanced control technologies.
  • Utilize analytical tools to evaluate automation solutions.
  • Manage project timelines efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations or related projects.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Strong skills in communication, problem-solving, and project management.
  • Familiarity with MPC systems and Rockwell Automation hardware.
  • Background in data analytics and related areas.
  • 6-Sigma certification or equivalent data analysis experience.
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
