Position: Senior Research Assistant

The Senior Research Assistant will play a pivotal role in the laboratory by independently managing cell cultures and essential reagents. The responsibilities include executing a variety of laboratory methodologies such as transfections, PCR, western blotting, and the extraction of RNA, DNA, and proteins. The candidate will also be tasked with preparing necessary equipment and materials for successful experimental procedures, ensuring laboratory organization, and collaborating effectively with computational biologists and fellow team members.
In this role, the Senior Research Assistant will be responsible for gathering, documenting, and analyzing experimental results, contributing to grant proposals and scientific manuscripts, and overseeing the work of students and junior assistants. The focus of the laboratory is on leveraging computational biology and genomics to investigate gene expression and processing, with ongoing projects aimed at splice machinery recognition and mutation identification within human populations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant laboratory experience or equivalent
- Proficient understanding of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry techniques
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology methods and mammalian cell cultures
- Preferred background in RNA/DNA analysis, next-generation sequencing, biochemistry, or cellular imaging
