Job Title: Research Scientist

Job Summary:
The Research Scientist will be responsible for investigating deficits in scientific knowledge and devising investigative protocols to disseminate insights through publications and presentations. They will spearhead data collection, analysis, and interpretation, and function as co-lead for joint research undertakings.

Conduct research to investigate deficits in scientific knowledge

Disseminate insights through publications and presentations
Spearhead data collection, analysis, and interpretation
Function as co-lead for joint research undertakings

Work Environment:
The Research Scientist will work within the Center for Gerontology & Health Care Research with PIs Andrew Zullo, Kaley Hayes, and Nina Joyce, faculty in the Departments of Epidemiology and Health Services, Policy, and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. They will also work with collaborators at other institutions, including the Hebrew SeniorLife Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute For Aging Research, the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, the Duke University Department of Medicine, and the Indiana University Center for Aging Research.

Education and Experience:
Doctoral Degree and 5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Competencies:
Expertise in observational and/or experimental study design
Proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research
Proficiency with or a willingness to learn about the Open Science Framework and Github
Some knowledge of the United States Health Care System
Experience with ICD-9 to ICD-10 General Equivalence Mappings and Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Clinical Classifications Software for Services and Procedures
Experience analyzing and managing large complex data sets
Prior experience with using a statistical programming language
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to accurately write and report on empirical findings
Ability to deploy well-developed time management skills
Excellent computer skills
Some interest in mentoring trainees, junior faculty, and staff

Additional Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
