Job Overview

LANDSCAPE CREW LEADER

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or Project Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the effective execution and installation of landscape designs while adhering to budget constraints. Collaborates closely with the Landscape Design Department, Estimator, Purchaser, Facility Manager, and Nursery Manager, ensuring that customer satisfaction remains the highest priority. This position entails the professional installation of plant and landscape materials in accordance with Environmental Management Inc.'s standard operating procedures. Daily management of job sites and providing guidance to Crew Laborers is essential. Responsibilities also include vehicle and equipment operation, along with strict compliance to established safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train Crew Members on the safe and proper operation of all equipment.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily work schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Gather necessary paperwork and job files before commencing new projects.
  • Complete all required daily documentation, including timesheets, T&M tickets, field reports, and accident reports.
  • Maintain tool inventory and report any equipment damage to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all equipment assigned to the crew is properly maintained, including routine greasing, fluid checks, and monitoring for preventative maintenance needs.
  • Conduct safety meetings as required by the Safety Manager.
  • Uphold and enforce all company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying potential up-sell opportunities.
  • Oversee quality control at job sites on a daily basis.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and plan for the following day's work.
  • Evaluate Crew Members and certify their training tasks.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Perform basic equipment repairs as necessary.

While fulfilling the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and hear. Frequent verbal communication is also required.

This position is crucial for maintaining job site standards in a professional manner according to Environmental Management Inc.'s operating procedures. The employee is responsible for providing direction to Crew Laborers and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. A foundational knowledge of plant and landscape materials, as well as construction techniques related to both commercial and residential landscape and hardscape installation, is essential, along with the ability to operate heavy equipment.
