Job Overview

LANDSCAPE CREW LEADER

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent and/or Project Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the effective execution and installation of landscape designs while adhering to budget constraints. Collaboration with the Landscape Design Department, Estimator, Purchaser, Facility Manager, and Nursery Manager is essential, with a focus on achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. The individual will be accountable for the professional installation of plant and landscape materials according to established operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training to Crew Members on the safe and proper operation of all equipment.
  • Coordinate and prioritize daily work schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Gather necessary documentation and job files before commencing new projects.
  • Complete all required daily documentation, including timesheets, T&M tickets, field reports, and accident reports.
  • Manage tool inventory and report any equipment damage to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure maintenance of all equipment assigned to the crew, including regular checks and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct safety meetings as mandated by the Safety Manager.
  • Uphold and enforce all company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying potential upsell opportunities.
  • Oversee quality control on job sites daily.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and plan for the following day's tasks.
  • Evaluate Crew Members and certify their training tasks.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively among crew members.
  • Perform basic equipment repairs as necessary.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and hear. The employee is frequently required to communicate verbally.

This position entails maintaining sites in a professional manner according to established operational procedures. The employee will provide direction to Crew Laborers and is responsible for vehicle and equipment operation, as well as adherence to safety protocols. A foundational knowledge of plant and landscape materials, construction techniques related to both commercial and residential landscape and hardscape installation, and the ability to operate heavy machinery is essential.
