ROLE OVERVIEW

The DevOps Engineer at Bright Machines collaborates with various teams to design, construct, deploy, manage, and optimize robust, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-connected industrial automation solutions. This role presents an exciting opportunity to partner with R&D teams in creating comprehensive automation solutions tailored for contemporary manufacturing environments. Our integrated system includes on-premises equipment such as a complete network stack (including switches, routers, and firewalls) and bastion hosts that connect to cloud services, along with software applications that operate and monitor robotic assembly lines.

You will work closely with R&D, Software Engineering, and IT teams to develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure. Our software is engineered to be cloud-native, capable of deployment both in the cloud and on-premises. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and managing our technology stack, which encompasses: AWS and Azure as cloud providers, Terraform and Ansible for Infrastructure as Code, Docker and Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and GitOps methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and construct infrastructure, develop tools, and advocate for industry-standard best practices to foster a strong DevOps culture.
  • Implement and oversee scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for application and automation system operations.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines to guarantee efficient and continuous software delivery.
  • Establish and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to facilitate troubleshooting and ensure high service availability and reliability.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies and best practices, including vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for the tools developed by you and your team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining cloud infrastructure for mission-critical SaaS applications/services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and GitOps practices.
  • Proficient in coding with Python and Shell scripts on Linux.
  • Expertise in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.).
  • Proficient in Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana).
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with modern CI/CD methodologies: MLOps and DevSecOps.
  • Experience supporting a developer community on MacOS and Windows, in addition to Linux.
