ROLE OVERVIEW

The DevOps Engineer at Bright Machines will work closely with diverse teams to design, construct, deploy, manage, and optimize robust, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud-connected industrial automation solutions. This role presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with R&D teams in crafting comprehensive automation solutions tailored for contemporary factories. Our integrated systems encompass on-premises equipment, including a complete network stack (switches, routers, firewalls) and bastion hosts that connect to cloud services, alongside software applications that operate and monitor robotic assembly lines.

You will engage directly with R&D, Software Engineering, and IT teams to develop CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure. Our software is engineered to be cloud-native, with capabilities for deployment both in the cloud and on-premises. Your expertise will be crucial in developing and managing our technology stack, which includes: AWS and Azure as cloud providers, Terraform and Ansible for Infrastructure as Code, Docker and Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and GitOps methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and construct infrastructure, develop tools, and advocate for industry-standard best practices to foster a strong DevOps culture.
  • Implement and manage scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure for application and automation system operations.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
  • Develop and sustain CI/CD pipelines to facilitate efficient and continuous software delivery.
  • Establish and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to troubleshoot and ensure high availability and reliability of services.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies and best practices, including vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for the tools developed by you and your team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps role.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining cloud infrastructure for mission-critical SaaS applications/services.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and GitOps methodologies.
  • Proficient in coding with Python and Shell scripts on Linux.
  • Expertise in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana).
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Familiarity with advanced CI/CD methodologies: MLOps and DevSecOps.
  • Experience supporting a developer community on MacOS and Windows, in addition to Linux.

$130,000 - $180,000 annually
