As a Senior Project Engineer at Barry-Wehmiller, you will become an integral part of a dynamic team comprising over 1500 professionals across our various locations. In this role, you will be part of our Packaging Engineering Practice, working alongside seasoned professionals and technical experts to deliver innovative solutions that meet our clients' needs with precision and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in supporting capital projects and devising effective solutions for our clients. Your contributions will be essential in driving improvements and helping clients achieve their strategic objectives.

  • Assess, assemble, and design packaging systems to develop automated solutions tailored for our clients.
  • Serve as a project lead and subject matter expert in packaging and equipment across diverse sectors including consumer goods, beverages, food, and industrial applications.
  • Oversee the complete packaging line design process, encompassing estimation, budgeting, scheduling, implementation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Formulate equipment specifications and design support systems, while conducting bid evaluations.
  • Facilitate communication with vendors and contractors to implement advanced automation solutions.
  • Provide engineering insights aimed at continuous improvement, utilizing industry-standard methodologies.
  • Evaluate existing packaging operations and spearhead projects that enhance productivity and deliver immediate returns on investment.
  • Identify and specify necessary tooling and packaging equipment within established timelines.
  • Address and troubleshoot packaging challenges, collaborating with maintenance teams to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Utilize your expertise to strengthen client relationships and contribute positively to team dynamics.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing packaging lines or material handling solutions, along with project engineering.
  • Experience in sectors such as Beverage, Food, Consumer Products, Pharmaceutical, or Industrial.
  • A comprehensive understanding of various packaging equipment types, including filling and palletizing systems.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional project management skills, including financial oversight and team leadership.
  • Ability to network and influence across functions.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A strong desire to build and maintain client relationships.
  • A history of successful project completions and a proactive approach to new opportunities.
  • Proficiency in writing scope of work documentation and managing on-site contractors.
  • Solid understanding of applicable software and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with automation control systems.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project execution and client engagements.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
