The University of Georgia is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor - Turfgrass Weed Scientist. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position located at the Griffin Campus.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and extension activities in turfgrass weed science, with a focus on developing and implementing effective management strategies for weeds in turfgrass systems. The individual will also be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in turfgrass science and related areas, as well as mentor students in research projects.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and extension activities in turfgrass weed science, with a focus on developing and implementing effective management strategies for weeds in turfgrass systems.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in turfgrass science and related areas.
- Mentor students in research projects.
- Develop and implement extension programs to transfer research findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff to achieve departmental and college goals.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in turfgrass science or a related field, with a strong background in weed science and extension education. The individual must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in turfgrass weed science research and extension, as well as teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels, are highly desirable. The individual should also have a strong publication record and a demonstrated ability to secure external funding for research projects.
