As one of the oldest grassroots tenant organizations, RTH champions the rights to quality, affordable housing for all races and cultures, advocating for tenant empowerment through active participation in leadership and development.
Position Summary: Roxbury Tenants of Harvard (RTH) is in search of a committed and experienced Elder Program Manager to lead initiatives for senior residents. The Elder Program Manager will be tasked with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive suite of Age Well programs and activities. The successful candidate will ensure that programs are tailored to meet the evolving needs of residents while aligning with RTH's mission, guiding principles, and strategic objectives. This role demands exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational capabilities, alongside a genuine passion for enhancing the health and wellness of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development:
- Investigate and apply best practices and innovative program models.
- Assist in the annual program planning process and the formulation of outcomes and evaluation tools.
- Encourage resident involvement and engagement through community planning and neighborhood building efforts.
- Oversee the maintenance of the senior center and facilities to facilitate program participation.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure the safety, staffing, and equipment of the senior center and associated programs.
- Supervise Age Well staff, work-study students, and volunteers, including their recruitment, training, and evaluation.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and contribute to a positive and secure work environment.
- Maintain precise record-keeping and respond to inquiries and complaints promptly.
- Monitor the senior department program budget and explore potential funding sources.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Prioritizes safety and embodies RTH's core values.
- Builds strong relationships and communicates effectively with residents, staff, and volunteers.
- Provides constructive feedback, coaching, and support to staff and volunteers.
- Possesses a flexible work schedule and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness with a commitment to community service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in gerontology or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in aging services or a comparable field.
- Experience in programming and managing volunteer involvement.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required.
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Culturally competent and capable of working with a diverse population.
Expected Outcomes:
- Deliver safe, educational, and engaging Age Well programs for residents.
- Enhance the overall effectiveness of the Senior Department's implementation of the RTH mission.
- Provide the community with quality services, programs, and leadership within the Senior Department.
