Job Overview

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is seeking a skilled Admissions Nurse to coordinate the screening and admission process for our Respite Program. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with BHCHP staff to ensure timely and professional responses to referrals, plan and coordinate admissions, and provide patient orientation and transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate admissions and screenings during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Screen referrals and provide report to the RN Manager at the end of the day
  • Collaborate with BHCHP staff to facilitate the screening and admission process
  • Provide patient orientation, transportation, and document encounters in the patient's medical record
  • Problem-solve with the Admissions RN Manager regarding alternatives for patients who do not meet criteria for admission
Qualifications
  • Commonwealth of Massachusetts RN license; minimum of 3-5 years nursing experience preferred
  • CPR Certification required
  • Proficient in Spanish language
  • Demonstrated interest in working with an underserved population
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, solve complex problems, and deal with a variety of issues
