Objective of the Role

The Aircraft Maintenance Training Specialist is responsible for evaluating, designing, developing, implementing, and assessing technical training programs focused on regulatory compliance and safety for both internal and external maintenance teams. This includes training for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Leadership, Maintenance Controllers, Supply Chain Operations, and Crew Operations. The role involves active participation in the Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) and expertise in creating training that emphasizes human factors while supporting departmental writing standards and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Aircraft Maintenance Training Specialist conducts thorough analyses of policies and procedures, as well as changes in FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations. This includes distinguishing between performance gaps and training gaps. Upon identifying these gaps, the specialist will establish instructional goals and objectives, presenting these findings to department leadership for further consideration. The analysis phase also involves assessing the current knowledge and skills of learners, as well as determining the optimal learning environment, curriculum requirements, and delivery methods.
  • Designs training programs based on human factors identified during the analysis phase. Develops assessments, exercises, content, multimedia resources, lesson plans, schedules, and syllabi. The design process is expected to be systematic and precise, ensuring a clear and singular interpretation of the material in collaboration with departmental subject matter experts.
  • Utilizes various authoring technologies to create engaging learning experiences. Demonstrates strong project management capabilities, including planning, organization, multitasking, time management, and achieving results. Works effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Delivers comprehensive and timely training solutions to maintenance leadership and technicians, addressing both technical training needs and safety concerns. Collaborates with other departments to maintain consistency and compliance with Company Orientation, Airworthiness Release, Initial, Recurrent, and Safety training standards.
  • Provides guidance and training to internal team members and external partners on effective safety practices, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Aviation or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience and Certifications

2-4 years of relevant experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in maintenance instruction.
  • Ability to create engaging and effective content using various authoring tools, such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline.
  • Proficient in writing, editing, and producing materials for technical training.
  • Familiarity with aircraft simulators and scriptwriting.
  • Strong public speaking abilities, including effective communication in large group settings.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for video production, photo editing, and graphic design.
  • Experience in technical documentation, educational curriculum development, and content creation.
  • Assists in the organization and maintenance of training schedules and resources to meet training demands.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
