**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Inventory Accountant III to join our team at Brookshires Grocery Company. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for actively involved with accounting functions for all areas of the company, with significant focus on period end.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Collaborate with multiple departments regarding financial entries, budgets and analysis.
  • Apply critical thinking to areas of responsibility and support department and Company objectives.
  • Work with accounting team and collaborate with others to achieve department and Company objectives.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts.
  • Document related business transactions.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of financial information.
  • Work collaboratively with retail, warehouse or fuel divisions to ensure proper compliance with GAAP.
  • Review, analyze and make recommendations regarding accounting of inventory and cost of goods sold accounts.
  • Interpret and summarize profit and loss statements.
  • Review current and projected company financial position for accounting leadership.
  • Support budget and forecasting activities in all areas of the Company.
  • Maintain effective internal controls over the Company's accounting procedures and financial systems.
  • Make recommendations for improving accounting operations, financial reporting and controls.
  • Support strategic planning for department and specific areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in the annual financial audit and ensure adherence to deadlines.
  • Participate in periodic physical counts of Company assets.

**Requirements**

  • Advanced knowledge and experience in GAAP, finance, and management accounting principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial software systems including transactional ERPs and budget planning tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced mathematical and accounting skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage time.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.

**Education and Experience**

  • Bachelor's Degree in business and/or finance and four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and higher education required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) status preferred.
  • Previous retail industry experience preferred.
