Job Overview:
The Financial Analyst Inventory & Costing is responsible for executing sophisticated cost accounting and margin evaluations to assess discrepancies between projected and actual costs. This role is also tasked with ensuring the precision of inventory records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects and organizes cost data while maintaining a comprehensive database related to production and inventory expenses.
- Establishes protocols for cost accumulation systems and accounting operations.
- Verifies the accuracy of work orders and ensures proper cost flow within the system.
- Collaborates with the Production & Inventory Control team to oversee and manage inventory expenditures.
- Documents and investigates variable costs, including raw material purchases, labor, and operational expenses.
- Analyzes and reports on actual costs to identify and rectify discrepancies.
- Prepares essential departmental and company-wide cost analysis reports.
- Evaluates, analyzes, and reports on actual profit margins.
- Participates in month-end and year-end financial closings and distributes performance reports to relevant department heads.
- Identifies and recommends cost-effective strategies.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in SAGE 100 and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting practices.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required, along with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. CPA certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are necessary. The ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally is required.
