Job Overview

The Assistant Center Manager will operate under the guidance of the Center Manager and may receive directives from the Operations Manager and other management personnel. This role is crucial in ensuring donor eligibility, maintaining product quality, and safeguarding the health of donors by adhering to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, state laws, and the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) along with any other relevant regulatory requirements. The Assistant Center Manager is required to be available every Saturday.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Center Manager in overseeing all center activities, including product storage, documentation, facility upkeep, quality assurance, and training, ensuring compliance with the Company's SOP, state and federal regulations, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and other internal protocols.

  • Regularly review and update center documentation, including logs, forms, training records, and equipment validations to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in managing donor flow and on-site staff, including scheduling, break management, and addressing daily operational issues; escalate matters when necessary.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff; conduct performance evaluations for designated center employees as per the SOP and provide retraining as required.
  • Report any errors or incidents that may compromise the safety, purity, identity, or quality of blood products to Quality Assurance; assist in audit responses as needed.
  • Help investigate and resolve donor complaints, employee concerns, and other operational issues in accordance with the SOP or relevant company policies.
  • Manage the receipt of positive test results or product-related concerns; oversee the quarantine or disposal of questionable units.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of product shipments.
  • Respond to all security and freezer alarms or concerns that arise during or outside of operational hours.
  • Assist with inventory management and procurement of cleaning, office, and medical supplies.
  • Ensure the center is consistently clean, safe, and organized; address or report maintenance, safety, and equipment issues.
  • Support center operations as needed.
  • Perform certain responsibilities of the Center Manager in their absence.
  • Be available for travel to other facilities for training or to assist with staffing needs.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in Management, Business, Nursing, Finance, or a related scientific field.

Skills and Competencies:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to read documents, manuals, and computer screens.
  • Capable of hearing alarms, doorbells, and telephones.
  • Comfortable working under observation during frequent quality inspections.
  • Ability to work in subzero freezer conditions.
  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds for stocking supplies and assisting donors.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for handling objects and controls; reaching with hands and arms.
  • Vision capabilities required for this role, including close vision.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, climb, and balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch as necessary.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment in donor areas that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves as required.
