Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Controls System Designer to join our team at Applied Resource Group. This role is essential for developing and implementing control systems that meet our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed drawings and documentation tailored to specific projects, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  • Offer technical assistance to both internal staff and external clients as necessary.
  • Support the training of control panel assembly technicians and apprentices under the guidance of the department manager.
  • Help organize and manage project components and inventory within the panel shop.
  • Compile and submit material lists for procurement to the purchasing manager on a project basis.
  • Keep the department manager updated on the progress and any challenges faced during control design and assembly.
  • Ensure all departmental checklists and documentation are updated promptly.
  • Conduct pre-job evaluations and complete necessary screening forms.
  • Review any available sales or customer communications against the working quote.
  • Notify the supervisor of any significant cost or design inconsistencies.
  • Order long lead-time materials as early as possible.
  • Prepare schematic or wiring diagrams as required for each project.
  • Generate comprehensive bills of materials for control panel assembly.
  • Release orders for outstanding job components.
  • Create layout diagrams for panel assembly.
  • Provide detailed terminal strip drawings for all control enclosures and junction boxes.
  • Design festoons/E-Chains and procure all necessary materials.
  • Complete assembly diagrams as needed.
  • Order any materials not typically maintained in inventory.
  • Review requirements for runway conductors and current collectors, and place orders accordingly.
  • Deliver as-built drawings upon project completion.
  • Ensure all relevant design materials are copied to the appropriate directories and stored on the main server.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in the development of industrial motor control systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with the overhead crane industry.
  • Background in electro-mechanical products.
  • Knowledge of AC and DC motors.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Understanding of relevant NEC and UL guidelines and processes.
  • Experience with general manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design, particularly with AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

This is a permanent position with compensation commensurate with experience.
