This academic year, KIPP Jacksonville will encompass four schools serving over 3,000 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current academic year, staff at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work Monday through Friday, with occasional meetings or special events outside these hours. Staff and student hours may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.

Every Wednesday is designated as a student early release day, allowing educators to engage in weekly professional development and team meetings.

Position Summary
The People Operations Manager (POM) serves as a key administrator in human resources, ensuring that employees operate at their highest potential as KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools expands. The POM will implement the vision and objectives set forth by the Director of Human Resources. This role encompasses the daily management of all HR services through a customer-centric and equitable approach. Key responsibilities include onboarding new team members in collaboration with the talent team, assisting payroll in conjunction with the finance team, managing benefits, and overseeing compliance initiatives.

Core Responsibilities
This role will primarily focus on the following areas:
(1) Maintenance of HRIS, including fulfilling reporting requirements
(2) Delivering high-quality onboarding experiences and customer service
(3) Ensuring compliance (fingerprinting, benefits, certification, etc.)

The POM will adeptly balance these three areas with exceptional project management skills. They will play a pivotal role in the onboarding and offboarding processes, acting as a primary contact for new hires and coordinating their experience alongside the talent team. Responsibilities include organizing fingerprinting, managing candidate documentation, and addressing inquiries from new hires post-onboarding.

Success Metrics
Success in this role will be evaluated based on the quality of onboarding and offboarding experiences, high levels of employee satisfaction, accurate and timely reporting, and successful audits.

This position is ideal for an individual who shares the organization’s strong commitment to racial equity and can develop systems for a growing organization facing increasing complexity.

The POM is a full-time position within the Shared Services team, which currently oversees four schools and is actively planning for future growth. As a member of this team, the individual will be dedicated to ensuring that school-based personnel receive the support necessary to focus on fostering student development in knowledge, skills, and character.

Work Schedule
This is a year-round position with responsibilities assigned by the manager. Typical hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though variations may occur based on role and season. Occasional after-hours meetings may be required, and some remote work days may be possible.

Key Duties

Onboarding/Offboarding/Certification:

  • Timely response to offer requests and drafting of offer letters for new hires as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the talent team to develop and maintain exceptional onboarding processes, ensuring regular touchpoints for all new hires to facilitate a best-in-class experience.
  • Partner with the talent team to create resources for new hires regarding certification and track compliance with teacher certification processes.
  • Coordinate with candidates and local district representatives to ensure efficient fingerprinting and screening, with accurate data tracking.
  • Generate total compensation statements for all new employees.
  • Ensure new hires are entered into the HRIS and that all onboarding tasks are completed.
  • Communicate HR data to relevant stakeholders (e.g., fingerprint clearances, technology requests).
  • Work with schools to fulfill all certification compliance requirements for audits.

HRIS/Benefits/Payroll:

  • Assist the HR team by generating necessary reports for open enrollment, audits, benefits reporting, etc.
  • Review payroll in collaboration with the HR and Finance teams.
  • Support the HR Director with benefits open enrollment and administration as needed.

Compliance:

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping in HRIS, district-mandated platforms, and for the KIPP Foundation.
  • Maintain fingerprint records and manage reprints.
  • Oversee certification compliance and record-keeping.
  • Administer leave in accordance with all policies and document appropriately, in partnership with external vendors.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is $51,000-$57,000, including free individual health benefits (medical, dental, and vision), a 403(b) retirement program with company matching, and individualized support and professional development for all staff members.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a human resources capacity, excluding recruitment.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with measurable outcomes.
  • Attention to detail is essential.

Highly Preferred

  • PHR certification.
  • Previous HR experience in a K-12 educational setting or district-level environment.
  • Familiarity with Paycor HRIS.
