Position Overview:
This role is dedicated to educational responsibilities at Touro University Nevada, with a commitment of 0.5 FTE.

The position is integral to advancing the mission of the department, college, and University through active participation in student instruction, scholarly pursuits, and service to the institution.

Faculty members are encouraged to engage in original research and seek external funding aligned with their interests.

This is a year-round appointment focused on teaching and clinical duties, with opportunities for research and contributions to institutional service.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Act as an educator, ensuring quality and integrity in the discipline.


1.1.

Collaborate with Program Directors and Department Chairs to develop and deliver educational content that meets and exceeds accreditation standards.

1.2.

Maintain expertise in the discipline and contribute to curricular development and delivery.

1.3.

Ensure that teaching methods are current and relevant, integrating new knowledge with practical clinical experiences.

1.4.

Work collaboratively to enhance curricula and foster a creative learning environment.

1.5.

Develop knowledge of various teaching and assessment methods, including simulation and online learning.


  • Perform assigned clinical duties.
2.1.

Provide comprehensive medical services in line with clinical practice standards.

2.2.

Stay updated on professional knowledge through workshops and publications.

2.3.

Practice within the scope of licensure and maintain high standards of patient care.

2.4.

Serve as a mentor for students in clinical settings.

2.5.

Engage in service learning opportunities to prepare students for active citizenship.

2.6.

Support students in achieving optimal performance through monitoring and advising.


  • Conduct research.
3.1.

Collaborate with faculty and students to develop and implement research initiatives.

3.2.

Present research findings at various conferences and publish manuscripts.

3.3.

Facilitate interdepartmental research collaborations.



  • Advance the University.
4.1.

Build partnerships with various entities to promote the University.

4.2.

Represent the University at local, state, and national events.

4.3.

Coordinate with the Office of Advancement on media interactions.


4.4.

Engage with government officials on legislative matters.

4.5.

Participate in committees and teams to support University goals.

4.6.

Contribute to compliance with accreditation documentation.


4.7.

Stay informed about institutional policies as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.


  • Contribute to team efforts by performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
DO or MD degree required.

Current Nevada license and board certification in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine).

US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Experience:
Experience in teaching osteopathic, medical, allied health, and/or graduate students. Evidence of productivity in research or scholarly activities.


Preference will be given to candidates with substantial teaching experience in a US medical school, particularly in an osteopathic program.

Strong knowledge of biological sciences, mathematics, chemistry, and various medical disciplines.

Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills, including professionalism and communication.

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituents.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Self-motivated and disciplined, capable of managing multiple projects.

Proficient in managing clinical patients using evidence-based practices.


Knowledge of electronic medical records and timely completion of medical documentation is essential.

Strong desire and skills to educate students, residents, and fellows while managing patient care.

Exemplary patient management, communication, and compassion.

Expertise in research design and methodology.


Proficiency in biostatistical methods and statistical analysis software.

High proficiency in Microsoft applications is essential.

Demonstrated expertise in various research endeavors.
