Position Summary:
This role is dedicated to providing educational instruction at Touro University Nevada as necessary.
The individual in this position will contribute to the mission of the department, college, and University by engaging in student education, scholarly pursuits, and service to the institution.
Faculty members are encouraged to engage in original research and scholarly activities in collaboration with students.This is a 12-month role with a focus on teaching and clinical duties, alongside opportunities for original research and contributions to institutional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as an educator, ensuring the quality, integrity, and established standards within the discipline. Collaborate with Program Directors and Department Chairs to develop and deliver content that meets and exceeds the essential elements defined by accreditation bodies and the University’s mission (including appropriateness of educational experiences, identifying enhancement opportunities, providing constructive feedback, and documenting outcomes).
Maintain expertise in the discipline and contribute to the curricular model and delivery methods for the coursework, recommending changes as necessary.
Ensure that teaching is relevant, appropriate, and interconnected, supporting and building upon prior learning experiences (integrating emerging knowledge with practical clinical experience, aligning learning objectives and processes) to enhance student comprehension of the subject matter.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of various teaching and assessment methodologies (including small group instruction, bedside teaching, mentoring, lectures, independent practice-based learning, evidence-based medicine, simulation, online learning, and interactive video scenarios).
Actively participate in the advancement of collaborative partnerships across various entities, engaging in networking opportunities with internal and external partners, other educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and local organizations to promote relationships with the University.
Remain knowledgeable of and compliant with all institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the Faculty Handbook for Touro University Nevada.
Contribute to team efforts by performing additional duties as assigned by the Chair.
Qualifications:
Education:
A DO or MD degree is required. All contracted faculty must hold current board certification in a primary care specialty (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Pediatrics). US citizenship or permanent residency is mandatory.
Experience:
Prior experience in teaching osteopathic, medical, allied health, and/or graduate students is essential. Candidates should possess teaching experience and a solid understanding of biological sciences, mathematics, chemistry, and various other medical disciplines.
Skills & Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal skills [including professionalism, diplomacy, judgment, discretion, and excellent oral/written communication skills] are essential for effective interaction and collaboration with diverse constituents.
