Job Summary:

The successful candidate will design, implement, evaluate, and enhance a program that promotes student achievement, aligning with the district's mission to support the academic achievement of all students, ensuring equity and access to all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a written plan for effective delivery of the school counseling program, communicating the goals to educational stakeholders.
• Provide direct services, including guidance curriculum, individual student planning, preventive and responsive services, and consultation to teachers and other school personnel regarding students and making referrals as appropriate.
• Work with students individually and in groups, providing education, prevention, intervention, and advocacy, and addressing the developmental, physical, social/emotional needs and abilities of students, and cultural diversity.
• Comply with legal and ethical standards, including the American School Counselor Association ethical standards.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Counselor Education or Guidance and Counseling and a valid Florida certification in Guidance and Counseling, K-12.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, proficient in current technology and software, and develop and implement data-rich, needs-driven, research-supported programs.
• Bilingual/biliterate preferred.

Work Environment:

The School Counselor will require the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers, and will travel to schools and worksites within the district.
