Job Title: Occupational Therapist - Educational Support Specialist



Educational Support for Students with Special Needs

As an Occupational Therapist - Educational Support Specialist at Polk County Public Schools, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic support to students in need of occupational therapy services. Your goal will be to promote student independence and adaptability in the educational environment.



Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students for occupational therapy support and make educationally relevant recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to develop goals and accommodations for students.
  • Promote student independence in the educational environment.
  • Recommend and fabricate equipment and assistive devices for students.
  • Increase student learning through adaptive and assistive devices.
  • Improve student motor performance and social-emotional skills.
  • Enhance student learning and functionality in the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided to students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to adapt educational plans for students.
  • Participate in inservice training and professional development.


Requirements:



  • Holds a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and a current Florida state practice license.
  • Meets certification requirements by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all applicable laws and regulations.


Bilingual/biliterate preferred. Performs other duties as required.
