Position Overview:

The American Conservation Experience, a prominent Non-Profit Conservation Corps, is in search of a dedicated GIS Technician to contribute to various GIS initiatives focused on environmental management and resource conservation. This role involves a commitment to assist with projects related to wildfire management, data reporting, and resource protection efforts.

This position is ideal for individuals passionate about urban and regional planning, as well as sustainable resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data transcription and quality assurance checks to maintain high data integrity.
  • Utilize ESRI GIS software and related tools to produce reports based on field-collected data regarding environmental impacts.
  • Perform data entry and conversion to ensure compatibility across various formats.
  • Create visual maps and analyze spatial data using ArcGIS Online, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, and other relevant software.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with resource professionals.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Data Science, Planning, Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and independence in work approach.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based position requiring prolonged computer use.
  • Minimal noise environment, with the option to use noise-canceling devices.
  • No travel required for this role.
