Position Overview:

The American Conservation Experience, a prominent Non-Profit Conservation Corps, is in search of a dedicated GIS Technician to contribute to various GIS initiatives focused on environmental management and resource protection. This role involves a commitment to assist with projects related to wildfire response, data collection for regulatory reporting, and ongoing maintenance of critical datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct data transcription and quality assurance checks to ensure the integrity and accuracy of information.
  • Utilize ESRI GIS software and other tools to produce reports based on field-collected data regarding the impact of wildfires on infrastructure.
  • Perform data entry and format conversion to ensure compatibility across various platforms.
  • Create visual maps and analyze geographic data using ArcGIS Online, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to represent the organization positively and professionally.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with resource professionals.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Desirable:

  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Geography, GIS, Data Science, Planning, Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and independence in work approach.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoor office setting with minimal noise.
  • Requires prolonged computer use and visual monitoring of GIS maps.
