Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Assistant to Police Chief to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach Isai. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, providing administrative support to the Chief of Police and Command staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of executive secretarial and administrative duties, including maintaining the Chief's calendar and schedule.
  • Coordinate and arrange for executive-level Police Department official representation at programs, special events, and functions.
  • Relieve command staff of administrative work, including receiving and responding to complaints and providing assistance in resolving operational and administrative problems.
  • Directly interact with residents requesting to see the Chief of Police, listening to their complaints/concerns and resolving the issue if possible.
  • Screen inquiries and organize the flow of communications, paperwork, and activity through the Chief's office.
  • Create, format, edit, revise, proofread, and process a variety of documents and forms, including reports, correspondence, memoranda, agenda items, and agreements.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and supporting word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school graduation or equivalent required; five years of increasingly responsible administrative and customer support experience, including administrative responsibilities of a highly sensitive nature.
  • College or professional administrative training and experience in a Police Department or administrative office highly desirable.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record required and must be maintained as valid during the course of employment.
Working Environment

The work environment is primarily in a standard office setting with extensive public contact and constant interruptions. The office is located in a facility with a jail, which may expose employees to unpleasant odors and noise.
