Police Captain

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Police Captain to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach Isai. As a key member of our police management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Police Department, including patrol, support services, and administration.

• Manage and direct the activities of sworn and non-sworn personnel, ensuring the preservation of order, protection of life and property, and enforcement of laws and municipal ordinances.
• Coordinate with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Provide administrative support to the Police Chief, including budget preparation, staff reports, and grant management.
• Oversee the control and custody of evidence and property, and direct the preparation of criminal cases for presentation to the district attorney.
• Manage and direct patrol shifts, special units, and community programs, including traffic enforcement and beach patrol.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
• At least six years of law enforcement experience, with five years at the level of Police Sergeant or higher rank.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Possession of a POST Supervisory Certificate and a valid Class C California Driver's License with a safe driving record.

The Police Captain will work in a standard office setting, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme temperatures. The noise level in the work environment will be moderate to loud at times. The Police Captain will be required to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings.
